Sunrise at Marken

The former island of Marken situated in the Gouwzee was connect to the main land in 1957 by a dyke. This means that visiting the island is obviously much easier now. Marken is famous for its monumental wooden houses, fishing heretic and the traditional costumes the residents wear.

Drone footage - Early autumn in the dunes

Finally, finally I got to do some video editing, I keep postponing it. The video is some drone footage (DJI Mavic Air) from last autumn when I was in the dunes. Remember this post from a while ago? Early autumn in the dunes - it was a wonderful Indian summer evening, golden hour and epic light. I got some cool shots back then.

Tuscany - end of summer

So end of last summer, yes these photos also took some time to edit, we visited Tuscany. We stayed right in the middle of the Chianti region, thus enough to eat and to drink. This was a family vacation, so not that much photography this time. However I took the Fujifilm X100F with me as a perfect travel companion.

Snow and the hunt for foxes - Waterleidingduinen

Here we are again, winter and it’s snowing. The whole country is in chaos, traffic jams up to 2300km in total last evening. However I can only think of one thing! Get out and shoot the next day, in search of foxes in the snow. So let’s go to the dunes, again. Nature here I come.

Full autumn colours in the forest - Speulderbos

This year I was ready, mid autumn with full colours of the forest trees and leaves, because every year I seem to just miss the ideal few days where the colour is at its best. Bentwoud is a new nature and recreational area right in the middle of the randstad. It has been transformed from farm land into this area in 2016.

Germany mid autumn colours, visiting Burg Eltz & Hubertus Viaduct

Time to head off to photograph a favourite of mine or the one that is still way on top of the list to photograph. We left early, not that early because we knew, the conditions were not optimal. Saying I wanted a nice thick fog and sun to reveal the Burg, but we got treated to the warmest day in October ever I guess. Well, it didn’t spoil the fun we had.

The Cliffs of Étretat

This trip was the return gift from my father to me, as Ilse of Skye was for him. The cool thing is, Étretat is a very nice environment which you can reach by car in about 6 hours. So it is pretty accessible situated in Normandy France and a great place to do photography. It is also quite close to the D-Day beaches and it’s historical landmarks and the remains of war you will encounter.

Hürtgenwald - you can feel the history!

During summer I wanted to visit this icon forest. Photographing the forest early morning together with sunlight hitting the trees and ground, lightening the green mossy concrete ruins of this historical and heavily fought battle in this forest during the war.
