Sharing my stories, passion and knowledge, but even more so, my experiences with photography in my blog section is something I needed to do. It is not easy, but love -not expected- to write more and share my experiences.

I'm so nice, I bought it twice - The X100F meets graffiti

So I have a confession to make, I’m stupid and nice! In this particular case all of the above apply to me. I bought the X100F last year as an allround, easy to carry and excellent image quality camera. The one that you always have in your hand or at least near you. After the summer and winter started, I got the feeling the X100F just sat on the shelf, not doing anything. In my mind, that was a waist and lusting for more bokeh shots, I convinced myself that I needed the 23mmF1.4. So I traded in the X100F for the 23mmF1.4 and the X-T3 and some spare cash, obviously.

Almost ready to leave the nest - Zaans Rietveld

Just before summer holidays on a nice evening in June I did a short tour around our local birding area. We have a few, but this one is the closest. You can find all sorts of birds, but mainly you’ll find waterbirds. Lately some even have spotted a long-eared owl and a sparrow hawk. More commonly you’ll find besides the waterbirds, goose, seagulls and kestrels, with sometimes a buzzerd.

Birding with the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Fujinon 100-400

After coming back from Vancouver and Vancouver island, photos will come later, I needed to test my few months old X-T3 against my former X-T2 for bird photography. So with a nice sun, wind and overall Dutch skies I went to the Groene Jonker and the Waver. See earlier blog posts on both areas here in the Netherlands.

Sunrise at Marken

The former island of Marken situated in the Gouwzee was connect to the main land in 1957 by a dyke. This means that visiting the island is obviously much easier now. Marken is famous for its monumental wooden houses, fishing heretic and the traditional costumes the residents wear.

Snow and the hunt for foxes - Waterleidingduinen

Here we are again, winter and it’s snowing. The whole country is in chaos, traffic jams up to 2300km in total last evening. However I can only think of one thing! Get out and shoot the next day, in search of foxes in the snow. So let’s go to the dunes, again. Nature here I come. Prepared and all. A light kit only bringing the new Fujifilm X-T3 and the fujinon’s 16-55mm with the 100-400mm

Lazy Sunday in Bentwoud - local nature area

So with all the latest blogs from France to Germany and back to Belgium I have this small blog. Nothing travel related or an exciting adventure, just a lazy Sunday hike in Bentwoud. Bentwoud is a new nature and recreational area right in the middle of the randstad. It has been transformed from farm land into this area in 2016. Since then 2,5 million trees and bushes are planted here which makes this quite a big area of around 800 hectares.

Early morning in summer, visiting the Dunes

So after the new kid in town, see previous blog, time for an early morning in the dunes and some of the meadows leading up to the dunes. I returned to the Amsterdamse waterleidingduinen, but still want to photograph the wisent in the other part of the dunes here in the Netherlands.

Nature is everywhere, just go out!

I wanted to share this post as I was just cycling around my home town through the meadows and saw plenty of birds that arrived for the summer here. As wel as many hares and obviously the famous dutch cows and farm land.

As you can see nature is everywhere, especially in spring, just go out and explore. Maybe not all is as exciting as being out in the wilderness, but even here in the urban western part of the Netherlands, you will find interesting animals, compositions and therefor photos!

In search of the European Bison, Nationaal Park Zuid Kennemerland

Whenever I visit the Dutch dunes I always end up in the same area. This area lets me photograph nice landscapes, but also a variety of wildlife, ranging from small birds to elk, deer and foxes. However this time around I wanted to go to the more northern part of the Dunes area, which is Nationaal Park Zuid Kennemerland.

Early morning in Zeeland - it wasn't nice!

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. In this case we lost. The last time when I was at the Zeelandbrug I was treated with a gorgeous sky and sunset, see here. However this time we were out of luck. We got up early and got into the car towards Zeeland. Marc Duiker, Marnix Vermaas and myself where pretty enthusiastic as the weather could go both ways. When we were on the highway it started to clear up.
