Recently I enjoyed a well deserved break. Time for the family and time for myself. The latter was easy to fill in, taking out the new Sony to different areas in The Netherlands. So I did a back to back photography trip to two places I visited multiple times before. However the weather was not really in my favour. Still got some decent photos and one short video, which I really like. Never thought I enjoy capturing video of the birds I encounter. Next blog will also have some, spoiler.

I really didn't had any plans or ideas to got and photograph. I’m still getting to grips with the new camera and the more I shoot the more I “get it”. Let me tell you, full frame, 60mpx and 600mm is not easy! However I’m getting closer to understanding its strengths, limitations and how the get the most out of this new combination.

So I could talk for hours here and explain how, what and when, but to be honest the back to back trips where to the Oostvaardersplassen and Waverhoek. Both you can find in other blog posts in this same blog. So go and take a look or for visit my portfolio for my best shots!

One thing I really wanted to point out is the encounter with a really cute and curious Bluethroat (Blauwborst - Luscinia svecica) in Waverhoek. I even managed to get a short video of the little bird. Which I was so proud of, I decided to do more video in the coming months. The other was a surprise, still really can’t make up my mind, but it should be a Spotted Flycatcher (Grauwe vliegenvanger - Muscicapa striata). The last one was encountering a Osprey (Visarend - Pandion haliaetus) finally, still it was quite far away.
