Exploring Switzerland's Grindelwald - Day 1 arriving

After 1,5 year staying in The Netherlands for holiday or just travel and travel photography I finally got to a point where I could plan (with all covid-19 measures in place) and go on a trip. The mountains were calling as I had the urge to see and experience mountains, hiking and views like I did two years ago in the Dolomites. See here in other blog stories. Man, I really liked the Dolomites!

However this time it was time for real high altitude mountains in Switzerland. The plan was to go to the Eiger and Jungfraujoch area and stay in one of the villages there. I ended up in Grindelwald and stayed in a really nice airbnb with the most kind and wonderful hosts. They helped me out tremendously with public transport, ideas and just general good advice to shuffle around the set plan for the week.

I will explain a bit more on what I did and where the hikes led to. However one thing is certain, you need a bus/gondola pass for the region as you can not reach higher areas by car, unless you are a local. This is something completely different than the Dolomites where every pass you can basically drive up to and start exploring from there. Which is actually a good thing, so you can cover more ground in a day. Still this area around the Eiger and Jungfraujoch is pretty pretty cool!

This post is not as exciting as the others, where I will explain more, but day 1 was the day I arrived. Which was an event in itself as the weather was really great, with sun, high temperatures and just a very nice feeling of being on the road and travel again. The good weather meant that with the setting sun the photos were up for grabs! Just epic! That would soon change, but more on that in the other blog post.
